The Chainsmokers are an electronic/Dance Duo, first rising to fame with their hit song, “Roses”. The Chainsmokers consists of Alex Pall and Drew Taggart. Alex Pall had a hobby of DJing when he was growing up. He performed around New York, even making a small carrier out of it.
Pall stated that it was scary to make a career out of a hobby.
He then realized that dance music was consuming every part of his life and all he wanted to do was make it.
He met Drew through his same manager, and when they met, they made a do, he quit his job, and the rest is history.
Pall has mixed feelings about growing as artists in the electronic music genre because you have a lot of other artists creating the same type of music.
Working with Halsey on “Closer” was incredible, according to Pall. The song was written on a tour bus, and Pall states, “She [Halsey] has a very strong voice…” and also states that artists like Halsey are the kind of people they want to be making music with.
Pall states that the type of people that listen to their music is mixed.
Pall says it’s really cool to have fans loving their work. He stated an example of his mother walking into the room humming “Roses
Pall says the live show and its visuals are forever changing, and they state they push it onto themselves to make the next show better than the last one.
Pall mentions that when they’re old, favorite artists take a break for a while, they don’t have the same popularity as they used to. Even though they deserve the break.
And for the Chainsmokers, it’s all about being the first, sending people into a whole new world.
